COMBINED AEROPLANE AND HELICOPTER

Cessna 172 course and Robinson R22 course
This course is approximately six months full time and is broken up into two components, theory and practical training.

The course is conducted in house at Chopperline using industry standard material. The duration of the course is 9 weeks and covers all 7 subjects required by CASA.

At Chopperline we recommend completing your theory before commencing your flight training, this will enable you to focus on your practical training with minimal disruptions.

The Private Aeroplane course is usually completed in seven weeks and is based on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Syllabus and requirements. The Private Pilot Licence allows you to fly inside controlled airspace anywhere in Australia by day. After completion of a minimum of 20 hours training and successfully completing a General Flying Progress Test you are approved to carry passengers in the local training area. The General Flying Progress Test is optional.

Once you have completed the private pilot’s licence it falls under a conversion course for your commercial helicopter licence which requires a minimum of 70 hours. This will take approximately 7-8 weeks to complete.

There are often debates amongst the industry about the best way to obtain your commercial licence. The combination course can make you more employable if you can fly both aero plane and helicopter in rural areas where both types are operated by the larger companies. These two licences can lead to job opportunities in the Tourism and mustering industry, however the private Aeroplane licence is restricted.

Fee includes all ground theory training to a commercial standard, including texts books, maps, charts and exams,40 hours of aero plane flight training to a private pilot standard, 70 hours helicopter flight training to commercial pilot standard, flight test fees and other charges.
